Film-a-thon today: Review of "Welcome"

So busy! Formulating a book. But I managed to watch 2 movies.

The first: The Muppets.  It's about to leave town so we caught it. Very witty and clever especially if you have watched the TV show and can get most of the jokes thrown about.

The second: Welcome. A French film (2009) easy to view despite the dialogue going in and out of easy French, English and what I think was Persian. The plot is based on a news story. Illegal Kurdish immigrants desperately try to leave France to get into England. As is so familiar to us in the U.S., people are willing to risk dying rather than live where they are. The French government pressures the local French to not support the immigrants in anyway whether it be food, lodging or even speaking to them. The protagonist attempts to swim the English Channel to get to his sweetheart before her family forces her to marry someone else. The acting is fabulous even if the struggle is familiar.
